Icktank is short for “ichthus think tank.”
The ichthus is the classic fish symbol used in early Christianity —a “password” drawn in the sand to identify believers in the culture. Think tanks are a modern creation for the development of ideas that solve real world problems, often of a societal nature.
Icktank is the brainchild of Heather Choate Davis & Leann Luchinger, who met in the MA Theology program at Concordia University, Irvine in 2011. Their compatible gifting has led them to write, speak, teach, and consult on the subject of theology & communications in the 21st-century Church. Their books Loaded Words and SOLA! What are we fighting for? have been widely regarded within the Lutheran church for helping lay people understand—and pastors communicate—the essentials of the faith in understandable ways.
